Why argue, its all music!

There is punk, pop punk, screamo punk, goth punk, grunge punk, punk rock, ska punk, rockabilly punk rock, phsycobilly punk, post punk... just to name a few. So what is punk? What does punk mean to people?
Really it should mean, and of course this is my opinion, what ever you want it to be. You see that the idea, or what I always believed the idea of punk was. You were free to express yoursel as you wanted. Not caring what other people thought and most importantly, NO RULES!
Oh how things have changed. Some bands I think still do keep to the old school punk rock ideals. But they get caught out when they do something that is deemed to be "selling out". Its a jip basically. You do what you want and you get snidded for it. You do what they want you to do and you still get it.
It would be hard to be true to yourself in a music sense, I think, when you have so many things and ideals you have to submit to.
That in its self is selling out.
