Throw Away Your Television

Throw away your television
Time to make this clean decision
Master waits for its collision now
Its a repeat of a story told
Its a repeat and its getting old
Throw away your television
Make a break big intermission
Recreate your super vision now
Its a repeat of a story told
Its a repeat and its getting old
[chorus:]
Renegades with fancy gauges
Slay the plague for its contagious
Pull the plug and take the stages
Throw away your television now
Throw away your television
Take the noose off your ambition
Reinvent your intuition now
Its a repeat of a story told
Its a repeat and its getting old
[chorus]
Throw away your television
Salivate to repetition
Levitate this ill condition now
Its a repeat
Throw Away Your Television - Red Hot Chili Peppers
That's right, another song review, and this one is of the best song by far on the Chili's album By the Way. Its baseline is reminiscant of their older style, and the guitar playing, whilst it wouldn't be great on its own, complements it beautifully.
On to the lyrics, the rhyming pattern and everything once again reminds me of their older work, it's calmer, I'll admit then most of their early songs, but still full of energy.
Now the meaning behind the words, I wouldn't recommend anyone does actually throw away their television, and Im not sure that even the Chili Peppers would, because there are some really good things on television. For Australians, there's Rage (music show), SBS documentaries (not just the porn ones) and assorted other good stuff, but when "Its a repeat of a story told" then you should at least be turning off the TV, examples I can think of are reality tv, legal and police dramas, soaps, anything like Jerry Springer or Dr Phil. Come on people, you are above that crap.
While I'm on the topic of the Chili Peppers, I GOT TICKETS!!!! after lining up for quite some time, and a billion phone calls to ticketek, I was crushed to see show after show sell out, but oh well, a friends parents managed to get some tickets, so I'd like to say a big 'I feel for you' to any who missed out, and a 'Fuck you!' to anyone who bought those tickets to scalp them
Peace
