Thin Lizzy

An uncle of mine introduced me to this Irish hard rock band a little while ago, and I've gotta say I'm pretty impressed with his taste.
Their music has influences of folk music, and yet is also largely heavy rock verging on metal at times. I dunno, sorta think Led Zeppellin, though admittedly not quite as good. Hey, why haven't I mentioned Led Zeppellin before in this blog??
The singer really doesn't have much of an Irish accent, which is a shame really.
The band describes their influences as including Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen, and far be it from me to question the members of the band about their influences, but, I can't see how that accounts for the bands unique instrumental style, or the singing style to be honest.
Man, That's about all I know about the band to be honest
The song 'Dancing in the Moonlight' is really good, so have a listen to that if you can, and also 'The Boys Are Back in Town' is apparently good, but I haven't heard it, so I dunno about that
anyhoo, check out their site
or their other site (from when they had a different lead singer)

I'm sure you'll recognise "Boys are Back in Town," I've heard it on a few movie soundtracks. Its got a pretty catchy, rock'n power chord chorus.
I reckon they were more Cream, Hendrix and Deep Purple influenced than Zeppelin. But I guess that's all symatics. They're all from a similar era and genre.
Anyway, I suggest you check out "Chinatown", "Don't Believe a Word" and "Jailbreak" too. Some of my favourite Lizzy songs.
Great post

Movies seem to be developing taste in regards to their soundtracks nowadays, I'll have a listen to the song and see if I've heard it before.
I can deffinately see the Deep Purple in them, and Hendrix, yeah I can see it, Cream I don't really know much about
You should deffinately have a listen 'almost 18', try 'Dancing in the Moonlight' and the one's Ruth recommended
Thanks for your comments both of you
