The Pixies

The Pixies is a band which I think Scott has failed to review, which is disappointing considering their popularity. Shame on you Scott!
The Pixies are generally described as an alternative rock band, but they have strong punk influences, and greatly influenced bands as such as Nirvana. Their sound is characterised by quiet verses and loud choruses, and often dealt with 'dark' topics as such as incest or violence.
The band eventually split due to arguments between lead singer, Black Francis, and bass guitarist and vocalist, Kim Deal, although recently they reunited to go on tour, and some rumours of a new album have surfaced.
If you want to check out some of their songs I suggest you listed to "where is your mind", although make sure you get the Pixies original, rather than the Placebo cover (I like the cover too...but you don't want to get your bands confused).
