The Budget
May 10th 2007 03:56
Everyone's getting a slice of the budget pie, so I might too.
So Costello unleashed the budget today, offering tax cut for all, and yet increased expenditure on everything (everything they mentioned at least
)
Where is the money going to come from??
Anyway, it really confuses me that, even though Howard is trailing on opinion polls for every aspect but one, he manages a slim lead in the economic polls. Voted by the public of course, not economists.
Yes, things like work choices and ignoring the public education system might provide a good surpluss, and lots of money for those who already have too much, it is not sustainable. Australia's government changes every 8 years or so on average. Basically following the pattern.
Liberals fuck the countries long term prospects over, but have a large surpluss at the end of it, then labour get in, use this surpluss to fix the economy for future generations, but are faced with skills shortages and the like from the lack of decent education, which the liberals manage to blame them for (blaming th government is always pretty easy to get away with)
Anyway, I spose this rant has been pretty damn biased towards labour, and I'm sorry, but what really pisses me off is the fact the two governments can't compromise to an extent.
If you have to run a marathon, you jog the entire distance. You do NOT sprint 100 metres then walk 100 metres, you will go slow, and be exhausted. The liberals always sprint, leaving the country too tired to get out of a walk after about 8 years of sprinting.
