Red Hot Chili Peppers

[SIZE=2]First of all, for those of you who think that the Chili Willies don't resemble punk at all, you're probably basing that on their recent albums, and the fans that only like those.
Their first 3 albums, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Freaky Styley and Uplift Mofo Party Plan contain a punk energy, and a rap style of singing that reminds me of Rage Against the Machine.
Their first album isn't great, because their record company altered the hell out of their songs, removed all of the soul and energy and left, well, nothing. However, recently they've re-released the album with some demos that are much better. The demos are Out in L.A., Police Helicopter, Green Heaven, Get Up and Jump and What it is (a tribute to Nina Hagen). Besides the lack of editing, the bands original guitarist (Hillel Slovak) recorded the demos, but not the first album.
Freaky Styley saw the return of Hillel, and a change of manager for the Chilis, and the creativity in it is great, Brother's Cup, Blackeyed Blonde, Catholic School Girls Rule, Yertle the Turtle, are all crazy and awesome at once.
Uplift Mofo was a continuation of the earlier two albums really. A cover of Bob Dylans 'Subterranean Homesick Blues' was pretty exciting, as was Fight Like a Brave and Funky Crime. No Chump Love Sucker cant decide if it's angry or happy, but its a cool song.
Mothers MIlk and Blood Sugar Sex Magik were great albums, the energy and vibrancy of the early albums was mixed with the, dare I say it, talent, of the later albums. By Blood Sugar Sex Magik, the band was in its current form, although John Fruciante left for a while due to a heroin addiction (which had already killed their original guitarist, Hillel)
One Hot Minute had the guitarist Dave Navarro (of Janes Addiction), and saw the Chilis in a bit of a phase of wearing kilos of eyeliner and the like. By now, the band was leaving alternative rock/funk/punk and becoming simply excellent Pop Rock. Californication continued this trend and By the Way completed it.
Their newest album, Stadium Arcadium has thankfully, returned some of the bands energy, and is deffiantelly a good album to get, even if its still nothing comapred to their first 5 or 6 albums.
What else can I say?? Go see some of the Pepper's videos - confronting at times, yet always artistic, beautiful and creative.

Thats cos my blog knows your true nature, Irish
By the Way was pretty bad, but Throw Away Your Television saves the album from being totally useless - its got a good baseline, and John's guitar work is pretty good

I can't argue with Throw Away Your Television, that is a great song. Can't Stop is good, as is Dosed. but they both sound fairly generic to me (compared to the rest of the Chili's songs at least)
Suck My Kiss is awesome.
