Reclaim the Streets

April 24th 2006 23:52
I got talking to someone with a 'Reclaim the Streets' badge the other day, and found out about a festival I’d never heard of before.

2003 Reclaim the Streets

It’s a large street party with the purpose of stopping traffic in an area; sending a message to various Sydney authorities that people desire better public transport, improved conditions for pedestrians, cyclists and skaters, more urban leisure space, street gardening, liveable neighbourhoods and the re-humanising of our streets.

It isn’t just a Punk festival – there’ll be music for pretty much everyone. So if you’re sick of congested roads and few alternatives as far as public transport, get to the next festival.

I don’t know when it is, but I’ll try to find out as soon as I can

Where's the "complain constantly but never do anything about it" party...because that's me in a nutshell.
