Punk Films

Yeah I know, crossovers never work, musicians should stay in music, and actors should stay away from it, but there have been some pretty cool movies made about the Punk Rock scene.
The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle, is a pretty good work from the Sex Pistols, mostly because it has alot of live performances by the band, and very little of the band members shittily attempting to act.
Sid and Nancy, or the Sid and Nancy Story or some such is also pretty good, again about the Sex Pistols (well, one of them at least)
I've heard alot about "The Decline of Western Civilisation" I'll deffinately have to find a copy of it somewhere, for those who don't know, it's a documentary about the L.A. Punk Rock scene at the end of the 70's and start of the 80's
There's (of course) alot of movies about the Ramones and the Clash, no idea if they're good or not, but meh.
Detroit Rock City, despite the fact that it's about KISS fans, is actually a pretty good movie. I mean, don't see it expecting a work of creative genius, but it's good for shits and giggles (sorry, I try to use that phrase as often as I can)
What's the point of this ramble?? besides "go see these movies!!!" just that you can get effective crossovers between music and film, but probably only when it's a film about music, unless the artists are actually good at both things, and put some effort into both that is.
Oh, and also, go see Empire records, seriously. It's good, though more for fans of rock then punk I suppose.

Another punk rock film you should check out is Repo Man. It came out in 1984 and has Emilio Estefez playing a suburban punk who gets embroiled in a whacky sci fi adventure. It includes music by Iggy Pop, Circle Jerks, Suicidal Tendencies, and Black Flag (Emilio even sings along to "TV Party"). It's good trashy fun and a deserved cult classic.
