Punk Art

As a counter-culture, Punk artworks were developed to challenged the preconceptions of many artists at the time, and, in more recent years, mainstream art has become surprisingly similar to Punk art, in form especially.
Punk art is divided into two catagories; the minimalistic and, well, the exact opposite.
The minimalist style was highly popular in England, with its popularity boosted by the Sex Pistols. This embodies Punk's, 'Do it Yourself' ethic that was adopted by many to ensure that no-one could get rich off of Punk music. As the name implies, minimalist art doesn't bother with getting details perfect, and try to achieve the desired effect with as little clutter as possible. In this way, they can be seen to be an adaption from Andy Warhol
An example of the other style of Punk art, more famous in America can be seen in this cover of an album by Paul Flaharty and Chris Corsano, which was created by Gary Panter - the father of Los Angeles punk comics
