One Foot in the Grave

I'd never heard of this band until a few minutes ago, but any punk band whose members average to be 60 something deffiantely deserve a bit of kudos.
I honestly have no idea what they sound like. I went to their download page but couldn't get it to work. I'll keep tryin, but if anyone gets it to work before me, tell us what they sound like.
They mostly sing originals but also do covers of 'The Ramones', 'The Violent Femmes' and 'Green Day' and have had a couple of successful European tours.
This makes me wonder, why is it so uncommon to find old Punks? I mean, quite a few other genres, Jazz, Blues, Classic Rock for example have much more age euality.
Could it be that heroin (and other drugs) thins the ranks of Punks to such a large degree? That could explain why Punks die young, but it doesn't explain why few adults start punk bands.
What about the unfortunate reality that 'Sex Sells'? Since when have punks cared about actually selling records???
No, I think that our political opinions inevitably change as we age. Most of my friends (me included of course) support The Greens or the international link However, the greens are only getting about 10% of all votes. This shows how the older generations are voting for much more right wing parties, Labour (who are only right wing when compared to the Greens), Liberal and *shudder* the christian conservative 'Family First Party'
It seems to me, that as the most selfish species on the planet, a 60 year old will, for the most part, only care what happens in the next 30 years - their goes long range economic and environmental planning. Whereas a 16 year old will live for maybe another 75 years so he has to be more careful about the long term consequences of his voting.
In conclusion, the voting age should be lowered, perhaps to 16, maybe even a couple of years lower, and maybe there should be an age after which you can't vote. Also, I say - Don't let the world make you bitter, because bitterness seems to me to be an integral part of the shift to right wing as we age.
Peace
