Nirvana

I haven't done a band review in ages, so I give you, Nirvana - underground grunge rockers and suddenly popular in the mainstream, a popularity which maintained even after Kurt Cobain's suicide.
Alas, Cobain is another famous artist that died due to a heroin addiction, the psychological effect more then the physical ones in this case.
The band released 4 albums before this occured, Bleach, Nevermind, Insectiside and In Utero; some live and best of albums were released later.
Permission granted to use this picutre solely to illustrate the album or single in question
I've never got into bleach - about a girl is the only song from there that I can name offhand. Nevermind was their first album to besuccessful in the mainstream, due to hits such as 'Smells like Teen Spirit' and 'Come as You Are' and yet it still maintained the Grunge that made the band good. Stay Away is a perfect example of this.
Insecticide is a best of/B sides album, and 'In Utero' is my favourite album. Recorded about a year before Kurt's Death, it is full of a dark energy, which can be seen in (screw it, I can't choose my favourite songs here, just check out the tracklist - all the songs on the album are good.
After the band broke up, some Live albums were released. 'Unplugged in New York' is a great listen, featuring covers of 'the Meat Puppets' and 'David Bowie'
From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah is pretty good, but nothing on their other live album.
Oh, also of note. Dave Grohl (the drummer) played in Foo Fighters after Nirvana dissolved
Peace
