Nagasaki Nightmare
October 10th 2006 01:14
I don't know how many of you are living under a rock, but North Korea has fullfilled their promise to test a nuklear weapon.
Is anyone else terrified??
We have now added another name to the list of coutnries who are cabale of starting a war that may destroy all life on earth, besides cockroaches which, as rumour has it, will survive.
We have the USA, Russia, Great Britain, France, China, India, Pakistan, North Korea and Israel.
Now, we must, in order to be fair, look at N. Korea's reasons for the test. They claim that it is in an effort to prevent American violence against their country. I am all for the prevention of US aggression, but 'Peace through superior firepower' and the Mutually Assured Destruction policy do not work, as they rely on the humans of both countries being rational and logical. Does that sound like a description of any of the recent US presidents? or of Kim Jong Il?(America apparently came close to firing nuclear missiles at the USSR when the president at the time was drunk)
Hmm, a link from the New Scientist weekly emails has the following to say
"While there was agreement among scientists that an explosion occurred, seismic readings raised questions about the size of the weapon and whether it worked properly. A successful nuclear test would be expected to have the same force as between 10 and 60 kilotons of high explosives. This one may have been less than one kiloton. "
Which is deffinately reassuring.
Anyhoo, have a listen to 'Nagasaki Nightmare' and 'Big A Little a' by the band Crass, I don't know what album they're on, but you can get them on the 'Best Before 1984' collection.
Peace

As far as I can see, the majority of us want peace it's just the d*cks up high who want to blow things up like psychotic little boys!

But seriously, the US have known it was going to happen for a while, but they've screwed up Iraq and Afghanistan so bad that they have to keep committing more troops to the war there, therefore leaving all their other fronts vulnerable. The media's portrayal of the US, whether or not it is totally factual, shows the country to be weakening considerably, and North Korea has been keeping tracks of this. They know that no one can do anything about it because everyone who can do something about it is in Iraq.

Yeah, they really are immature; selfish brats with ego problems. (By the way, you can swear if you like)
Hehe - that is one funny movie. Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what America does, they could turn the Iraq situation over to the UN, which would free up alot of their troops, but that would involve swallowing their pride.
