Michael J Fox...

October 31st 2006 11:14
Wins the award for outstanding achievment in the field of excellence for his help in the campaign of Democrat candidate Ben Cardin.

If you haven't seen the add, go here

The add, in summary, is Michael J Fox , who has long struggled with Parkinson's disease throwing his support behind the use of stem cells.

Now, in the interests of at least appearing unbiased I'll present some of the arguments used against the use of stem cells.

"To me, this is a shame that they're exploiting someone like Michael J. Fox for something that the scientists say is not going to do anything," - Douglas Stiegler, executive director of Maryland's Family Protection Lobby.

exploiting?? he volunteered for it to help people in his situation
and every scientist agrees that it will have a great effect in combating a wide varity of diseases. It is the scienticians from the ultra consevative "will somebody please think of the children" organisations that think it won't do anything.

Some also believe that the use of stem cells is murder, as they have "the potential to create life" guys, you have something along the lines of a billion sperm inside you right now, gals, you have a mere thousand or so eggs. So that means that females only ever have to have 1000 children in order to not be a murderer, guys, you must have children beyond counting (don't even bother trying to name them all)

Peace

Scott,

you are so right. i mean really, if you have the chance to help someone else have a better life why not do it?! it's not murder, who is seriously going to use up all their sperm and egg cells??? they might as well be put to some use, i know that sounds harsh, but think about it...
by the way Scott, i love all of your blogs, i think i've agreed with just about everything you've written here. afraid i am very tired so what i've written sounds kinda crummy, but yeh...

thanks for all your thoughts, i no longer feel outnumbered with my beliefs

peace

Hey Aislinn

I'm really glad to find someone who agrees with me on this and other things, tis always good.

And thanks for your support of my blog, which, I'll admit usually reads like I'm tired or asleep. Yours didn't sound crummy at all by the way.

As to being outnumbered, there's a fair few people who share your views, if you look closely enough

Thanks for the kind words

Peace
