Lou Reed Concert

January 23rd 2007 06:44
Well, i was distracted for a while, but here's the review I said would come.

The track list was The entire of the Berlin Album

1. Berlin
2. Lady Day
3. Men Of Good Fortune
4. Caroline Says I
5. How Do You Think It Feels
6. Oh, Jim
7. Caroline Says II
8. The Kids
9. The Bed
10. Sad Song

And then there was an encore, 3 songs, including Sweet Jane.

Now, Whilst it was never he most popular of Lou's Albums, but it has some very good songs, especially Men of Good Fortune and How do you think it Feels. Sweet Jane is great obviously.

but when you see Lou Reed live, it doesn't matter if he merely sings 'happy birthday', he'll do it in such a beautiful way that it'll seem like the best song ever.

He made excellent use of a choir, a couple of brilliant backup singers and a fair sized string and brass section.

The only complaint I had was with the seating arrangements. The standing area was right at the back of the theatre, there was seating in front of it. That, combined with the audience being about Lou's age, made any variety of Moshing or crowd participation pretty impossible.

Ahh well

peace
