Teachers are not bludgers, ok. Can we just accept that

yeah, and they spend half that time preparing stuff, marking and setting tests and just generally working.

Bullshit, tell me any other profession that is paid a similar amount AFTER having done a university degree.
Now, I didn't like alot of my teachers, but that was because they put effort in, yet were complete tools, not because they were lazy.
