I'm not dead

By request of Irish (Leon) I got a copy of Pink's new album, I'm Not Dead and shall give it a good review. He descirbed it as packed with everything that punk stands for.
the first single, and first track, 'Stupid Girls' isn't filling me with confidence for the rest of the album, it's basically what I expect from Pink really - a nice voice, but annoying musical style, shit lyrics and nothing in the way of instruments. But then again, one should NEVER judge an album or band on their most popular song(s)
'Who Knew' is a deffiante improvement, i was actually getting into the song until the chorus came up and ruined it.
'Long Way to Happy' sounds alright on a first listen, but nothing spectacular
'Nobody Knows' is much slower then the rest, with some basic but nice sounding piano. It's not pop, it's not punk but its pretty good soft rock. I spoke too soon, it just sped up a bit. It shouldn't have...
'Dear Mr President' is like the earlier song, but repalce the piano with some mellow guitar. Now I can see Leon's point about it being packed with everything Punk stands for
"Dear Mr. President
Come take a walk with me
Let's pretend we're just two people and
You're not better than me
I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly
What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street
Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep
What do you feel when you look in the mirror
Are you proud
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
And tell me why
Dear Mr. President
Were you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
Are you a lonely boy
How can you say
No child is left behind
We're not dumb and we're not blind
They're all sitting in your cells
While you pave the road to hell
What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away
And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay
I can only imagine what the first lady has to say
You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry
How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye
How do you walk with your head held high
Can you even look me in the eye
Let me tell you bout hard work
Minimum wage with a baby on the way
Let me tell you bout hard work
Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away
Let me tell you bout hard work
Building a bed out of a cardboard box
Let me tell you bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
You don't know nothing bout hard work
Hard work
Hard work
Oh
How do you sleep at night
How do you walk with your head held high
Dear Mr. President
You'd never take a walk with me
Would you"
Kudos to Pink and the Indigo Girls, for one of the better slow punk songs I've ever heard
'I'm Not Dead' - Oops, I got distracted and so I missed half the lyrics, but the bits I did get were not just inane pop shit, they actually soudned like she put some thought into them. Some nice use of instruments rounds off a good song.
'Cuz I Can' Either a crappy song about booze and cars, or a pretty cool parody. Seems to be a criticism of many Pop Punk bands - but I'm not sure if she's being hypocritical or not.
Pfft, I'm lazy, rest of the album can come tomorrow, but if you're dying to know, go to amazon and have a listen, or just buy it
Peace
