Early Goth Bands
August 29th 2006 00:35
This needs no intro, besides yesterday's post that is.
I'll be looking at three bands,
Specimen, Alien Sex Fiend and Sex Gang Children
Alien Sex Fiend, has obviously got an awesome name. But what else do they have going for them? Their music is very diverse, changing greatly from album to album. That said, I don't really like the bits of their music I've heard, its too electronic for me, and unless the electronic sound is pulled off extremely well (as is the case for the Gorillaz), it does nothing for me.
Ahh well, if you're reading this you probably like Goth music, and, assuming you like electronic and industrial influences in their I'm sure you'll love the band
Check out their homepage and you can listen to samples of one of their albums here
Specimen is a pretty good band, from what I can gather. I haven't had a chance to listen to any of their music, but their keyboardist looks like this (below)
Nah, I'm not quite shallow enough to judge a band on appearances, but the guitarist worked with Siouxsie and the Banshees and Sinead O Connor, which is pretty cool. They didn't really have too many songs, and never even released a studio album, but their singles, EPs and compilation albums sound pretty cool.
Sex Gang Children. Despite the odd name, Sex Gang Children sound like a pretty cool band, with Tribal Drumming and heavy bass, exemplified in the second song on the first disk of their compilation album, Fall: The Complete Singles
Deffinately give them all a listen, what can you lose??
