Dead Kennedy's

Time for another band review, the Dead Kennedy's formed in California, in 1978, and became somewhat of an underground smash, especially because of the song 'California Uber Alles' This attracted the attention of many in the music world and they were invited to play at a Music Award Show.
However, after accusing the show of being comercialised and wearing shirts and ties that formed dollar signs, they went back to being underappreciated Punks. They moved even further away from the mainstream with their song 'MTV Get off the Air'
Their first album (Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables) was, in all honesty, their most controversial. Although, the other three are hardly tame, especially the last (Bedtime for Democracy)
The DK's used a large degre of satire in their songs, unlike many Punk bands, who state their opinion straight out. Power is Boring, California Uber Alles and Kill the Poor are all great examples of this, and show the DK's leftwing, anti totalitarian stance towards politics.
Unfortunately, the band broke up becuase the lead singer failed to inform the others of a banking error, and they suspected he was stealing from them, and the band reformed years later with various lead signers to replace him.
