Club Blink

It isn't exactly punk, but if you live in Sydney and you're tired of nightclubs that play RnB music, then Club Blink might be the place for you. Located in the Agincourt Hotel (5 minutes walk from central station, right opposite railway square) on a Friday night this club generally plays heavy metal and some hard rock. This may not be your cup of tea, but it is different.
The people there are generally very friendly, despite the gothic appearance of many, which may scare some people off, and an active dancefloor, as well as plenty of seats, give you the choice of staying seated or getting up and dancing.
If you're planning to go to Blink and some time has passed since this post, search for Club Blink on the internet, just to make sure it is still located in the same place, as I believe they are moving at some point in 2007 (to somewhere in Kings Cross).
