Christmas Eve
December 24th 2006 09:47
I hope you're all enjoying the holiday season, whether you worship Christ, Santa, or even if Christmas means nothing to you.
Anyhoo, my ramble today is on the nature of Christmas.
Because I certainly can't enjoy it on the Christian level - I don't believe, as Christians do that there is only one God, and a fallen Angel to represent evil. Besides, the God from the Old Testament at least is much too vengeful for me.
I deffinately don't like the Capitalist Christmas presented by Hallmark and all the toy companies - yes, I do buy people pressies, so I spose to a certain degree I do - but I don't go nuts with the presents or have a minimum amount I wish to spend.
Christmas often seems, to me, to be a time of great unhappiness for many people - who are stressed out about not finding the right presents and the like - and if that describes you, then relax a bit. Whether you take the Christian viewpoint or not - it is a holiday dedicated to group hedonism (as much as that sounds like a contradiction in terms) - for the enjoyment of everybody. There's no point stressing yourself to get 'the perfect present' for someone if you are then a grumpy stressed out bastard and end up ruining Christmas day.
Anyhoo, I'm rambling. Enjoy the holidays
Peace
