Battle of the Bands / Mild Ryan
June 22nd 2006 00:13
This is only for Western Sydney/Blue Mountains people really. Actually, fuck it, everyone should come along.
1st of July, at Jamison High, it even rhymes people.. what more do you want. (i'll find out a contact number and times either today or tomorrow)
and best of all, Mild Ryan is going to be playing at this here battle of the bands. Now, you might think this is biased, cos its my friends band, and I know very little about the competition, but I'm going to say it anyway. Mild Ryan are the best, most talented, and handsomist of all the bands.
The band features
Peter Fitzgibbon on lead vocals and melodica occasionally
Ben Burton on keyboards and backing vocals
Tim Mann on Bass and backing vocals
Russel Fitzgibbon on Drums
What else can I say?? they aren't Punk, but I'm sure there'll be some Punks at the battle. Mild Ryan sound a fair bit like Ben Folds (Five) but more heavy/hard (by the way, I haven't heard much of Ben Folds's earlier music, so I'm basing it on their later stuff - Rocking the Suburbs and Songs For Silverman)
Peter's dancing, however, has nothing to do with Ben Folds, he looks a bit like Peter Garrett when he dances. For those of you who don't know, Peter Garrett was the lead singer of Midnight Oil, an Australian political Pop Rock band, and he then went into politics, not in the Greens party where he would've fit right in, but in the labour party.
Enough getting distracted, go see the battle of the bands!! right now! or on the 1st of July.
Peace
