Maiden Voyage

October 4th 2007 12:54
Iron Maiden are set to hit Australian shores for the first time in 15 years! They will land here for only the fourth time in the bands 36 year history in early february, but dont expect getting a ticket will be all that easy as their show at the acer arena sold out in 25 minutes! Frontman Bruce Dickenson has announced only a matter of weeks ago that this will be "part two" of the "early days" tour and with plans to play a range of songs from the albums number of the beast, somewhere in time, and powerslave. Dickenson also stated not to expect any new songs, as the bands passion lies with their own classics such as wasted years, run to the hills and two minutes 'til midnight.

Tickets are still available for shows at the Burswood Dome in Perth (4th Feb, 2008) and the Brisbane Entertainment Centre (12th Feb, 2008).

Parkway Drive take the High Road

October 4th 2007 12:44
Parkway Drive's infamous killing with a smile earnt them a record deal with Epitaph records in California late last year, with the album hitting American shelves in November. This breakthrough for the metalcore five-some from sunny Byron Bay comes as no surprise, having formed in 2003 and making a huge splash nationwide with their 2004 release dont close your eyes. In many respects the boys from P.D are alot like the rest of us who have all grown up with an amazing respect for the Punk Rock label and for the bands with which the label is already renowned for, such as Bad Religion, NOFX, Social Distortion, converge, millencolin etc.

Parkway drive have secured their spot as the only Australian band on the American leg of the Vans Warped Tour. If by chance you are unable to make it to the tour, you can see parkway drive perform live at the UNSW Roundhouse in Sydney October 12/16

It's Tricky

March 27th 2007 03:45
Lol, what can I say?? it's sorta hard to take this song seriously.

Completely inane lyrics, forced rhyming, simple drum beat and the guy doesn't even have a great voice (the Run DMC version at least), but somehow, they add alot of crap qualities together to get a song that it's somehow hard to hate

The Strokes

March 24th 2007 08:38
Any Strokes fans in the audience?? A friend introduced me to their music and I found, much to my surprise that I liked it. I had sort of assumed that they were one of the indie bands that considers themselves independent of talent. But no, they're really good.

Anyway, that's about all I know about the band, so check out their site or wikipedia

Tori Amos

Wow, she's a surprisingly good singer. When I first heard her I assumed she was the regular pop rock type shit, but that's not true at all.

Have a look at the lyrics to her song, Leather

Rebellion (Lies)

March 14th 2007 07:39
No, that's not saying that this post is all lies. It's the name of a song by the Arcade Fire

I have no idea where these guys came from, but they're sorta popular right about now

Jesus and Mary Chain

Recently got a hold of their singles collection, 1984-98. I'd heard of the band many times, usually on Wikipedia, because they are claimed as inspiration by quite a few rock/punk bands.

It was good to find I knew some of their songs... Such as "Blues from a Gun" and "happy When it Rains

Dj Peril

January 24th 2007 11:06
I was recently given a promo cd for Rock Ya Baby, an upcoming release by Dj Peril (whoever he is)

Now, I'm not much a fan of rap, besides some early stuff when it was still closely linked to funk, but I had a listen to this song anyway
