V festival

March 31st 2007 02:54
One of my friends is at the V festival this weekend.

Whilst most of the bands I've not heard of, the Pixies!! and New York Dolls, make it a pretty awesome show.

Why am I not there??

Damn

............................. ............................. ............................. ............................. ............lding a stall to raise awareness about the lack of global warming, and protesting about the lack of nuclear power.

Now, I belive that most people evolved from apes, but calling these fucking conservatives an evolution is just plain wrong. I believe monkeys evolved from these idiots

It's Tricky

March 27th 2007 03:45
Lol, what can I say?? it's sorta hard to take this song seriously.

Completely inane lyrics, forced rhyming, simple drum beat and the guy doesn't even have a great voice (the Run DMC version at least), but somehow, they add alot of crap qualities together to get a song that it's somehow hard to hate

The Strokes

March 24th 2007 08:38
Any Strokes fans in the audience?? A friend introduced me to their music and I found, much to my surprise that I liked it. I had sort of assumed that they were one of the indie bands that considers themselves independent of talent. But no, they're really good.

Anyway, that's about all I know about the band, so check out their site or wikipedia

Bob Brown

March 22nd 2007 03:24
Besides the awesome alliteration in the name, Bob Brown is also an awesome person.

I suppose I should be calling him Senator Bob Brown, for obvious reasons really. He's an Australian senator of the Greens Party, and I just heard him give a talk. And what can I say?? I'm in love [ Click here to read more ]

PS3

March 20th 2007 07:46
I couldn't think of anything else to talk about, so I'm just gonna bitch about the PS3.

Honestly, in terms of number crunching, yes, I am impressed. But who cares. Graphics really don't matter that much, and unless you have a huge LCD tv, there's no difference between any of the latest consoles anyway

Canberra Day

March 19th 2007 03:21
It's a holiday enjoyed by only 300 000 people worldwide, and, well, all of them are in Canberra.

But when you think about it - why does the ACT enjoy so many more public holidays than anyone other state/territory? Could it be because the upper levels of the public service are mostly located here

Tori Amos

March 15th 2007 08:11
Wow, she's a surprisingly good singer. When I first heard her I assumed she was the regular pop rock type shit, but that's not true at all.

Have a look at the lyrics to her song, Leather

Rebellion (Lies)

March 14th 2007 07:39
No, that's not saying that this post is all lies. It's the name of a song by the Arcade Fire

I have no idea where these guys came from, but they're sorta popular right about now

Shaun of the Dead

March 12th 2007 04:58
Best movie ever, it has Zombies and everything.

It's also got some really good social commentary too, and, as much as it scared some of my friends, it is the most hilarious movie ever

An Inconvenient Truth II

March 8th 2007 23:35
Wow, I'm terrified actually, it is a really good movie. I would encourage you all to get yourselves a copy of it.

Man, It's made me even more sick of my country. I knew that Australia hadn't signed the Kyoto agreement, but I didn't know that it was just us and Ameria of the developed countries that hadn't signed it

Jesus and Mary Chain

March 6th 2007 04:30
Recently got a hold of their singles collection, 1984-98. I'd heard of the band many times, usually on Wikipedia, because they are claimed as inspiration by quite a few rock/punk bands.

It was good to find I knew some of their songs... Such as "Blues from a Gun" and "happy When it Rains
