WTF is happening in Iraq

December 25th 2006 22:23
Following a Christmas Day raid by the British Army on an Iraqi Police Station, the Basra City council has cessed co-operation with the Armed forces.

Wow, well done to whoever organised that mission - your enemies now include
- All of Sadams supporters
- All of the Iraqis you've pissed off since then by invading
- The Police (not the band)
- Pretty much all the surrounding countries.

Man, the Vietnam War would have been easier to win

Peace

Oh, and if you want to hear the story from a real news reporter, not just me giving my opinion, go to the BBC

Have recently released an album called "A Twisted Christmas"

A big thank you to the band - now we can get into the Christmas spirit without being annoyed by crappy songs.

I hope you're all enjoying the holiday season, whether you worship Christ, Santa, or even if Christmas means nothing to you.

Anyhoo, my ramble today is on the nature of Christmas.

I'm Back Again

December 17th 2006 23:03
And I have been introduced to the band The Strokes, an Indie Rock group, whom I think are Australian. anyhoo - this post Isn't about them, because I've only heard a couple of their songs. So yeah, something on them soon. Well, I'm going away again tomorrow, so maybe instead of reading crap on the net you should get into the Christmas Spirit - and by that I don't mean buy people expensive gifts, just spend time with people and all, c'mon, it'll be fun.

Peace

Freecycle

Yes, it has a lame name, but oh well.

Once again, I am shamelessly advertising, but it's a non profit organisation, so who cares.

Twisted Sister

December 8th 2006 00:42
I have recently experienced the awesomeness that is Twisted Sister, a New York Heavy metal band, around from 1973 - 1987 and 1997 onwards.

They were originally more of a Glam Rock band, influenced by David Bowie and the like, but soon moved towards the heavy metal end of things, citing all the typical metal bands AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and Alice Cooper. Well, not all obviously, but lots of good ones.

I've run out of good Punk songs to talk about for now, so I'll give you the lyrics to a song that needs no satirising, for it does so to itself.

Australians all let us rejoice

Is between candidates Kim Beazley and Kevin Rudd

Kim Beazley, current oposition leader, well, you all no doubt have made up your own mind about him, and if you haven't - get out from under your rock.

Crosby, Stills and Nash

December 4th 2006 03:04
How to describe this band? Unfortunately, the first word that springs to mind is 'Arrogant', because in some random documentary I saw about the band, the lead signer seemed pretty impressed with himself. However, i'd been on a long car drive and was in some chaddy motel, so maybe I was just a tad grumpy, I dunno.

regardless, the band is undoubtably highly talented and, whilst wikipedia refers to them as folk rock/rock, that isn't to say that they are the trashy folk music that you hear on the radio, they were very popular in the 60's Woodstock scene, which has to count for something.

Work Choices

December 3rd 2006 23:42
I don't know if anyone outside of Australia knows what's happening in our once cool country.

Thanks to John Howard, and the new industrial relations laws (considerably worse then those that were recently introduced and then repealed in France), workes rights have been... well, workers now have no rights

Style Council

December 1st 2006 02:50
If you can't guess from the name, the Style Council are New Wave, and feature the singer from 'The Jam' Paul Weller.

The band really does sound like the Jam, especially when you compare "Walls Come Tumbling Down' by the Style Council to 'Going Underground' or 'Town Called Malice' by the Jam.
